We visited Las Vegas with our 19-month old toddler when my long-time pen pal and friends from Belgium came to the USA for the first time. We were excited and nervous at the same time as we planned for this trip that’s been years in the making. As fate would have it, my poor baby caught a stomach bug a few days before the trip.
Like any logical actions first-time parents take, we rushed to the pediatrician’s office to have her checked. The doctor advised to let her system work through it. In the meantime, our job was to keep her hydrated. With that, we were cleared to travel. Oh boy! We were in for a trip! We certainly knew it was going to be rough. Nonetheless, we made the most of it.
We stayed at the Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations. It’s located on the Las Vegas Strip adjacent to the Miracle Mile Shops. Dining options were plentiful. The view at night was beautiful!
We hotel hopped during our stay. The Bellagio is always a must to visit. The Fountains of Bellagio and the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens are a sight to see. A note for parents: Diaper changing areas in Las Vegas hotel bathrooms were practically non-existent during our trip. Get ready to be creative!
Our friends wanted to see what the famous Fremont Street was all about. It was certainly an experience. Just a word of caution to parents: It can get LOUD and smoking must have been allowed as I could smell it in most places. It’s Vegas, so expect it.
And lastly, we did a helicopter tour of the city at night. What were we thinking?! Highly recommended for older kids… Not for a 19-month old. Yes, you must be thinking we’re crazy. We must have been. Here’s a view from the skies. Las Vegas certainly lights up at night!
Finally, I’d like to close this with a product recommendation. I highly recommend the gb Pockit Stroller. I never have to worry about checking in my stroller since it’s so compact when it folds that it fits under the seat or in the overhead compartment. We love it for our travels!
Thanks for following our adventures!
